LED Creative Light up Liverpool Waterfront for River of Light 2023
LED Creative Illuminated Liverpool Waterfront with this radiant pink tribute to the music of Eurovision 2023.
Yellow Studio, who also designed the Eurovision set from earlier in the year, created this captivating light-up art installation named United by Music. Working alongside UK based designer Matt Rees and Set Company Scott Fleary, LED Creative were asked to bring this structure to life by utilising our Sigma Neon product controlled on LC Byte controllers. The install that run for just over a week, was an ohmage to the Eurovision Song Contest held in the great city of Liverpool in May this year and featured a 6-minute show consisting of music from Eurovision 2023.
Students from The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) were invited to be involved in the installation. Students from LIPA were involved in the editing of tracks as well and the lighting programming. LC project manager Tim Rees says “it is always great to support new talent in our industry” when asked what the process involved, he went on to say “having spoken to the course leader at LIPA a couple of interested students came forward, we provided them with a control package as well as a pre-programming kit. We also offered tech support through the whole process. The team from LIPA did an outstanding job and I wish them every success with their chosen field.”
United by Music was part of a city-wide River of Light Trail consisting of 12 installations spread over 2km of Liverpool’s historic city. United by Music was a 10-meter round multi performance space designed by New York based Yellow Studio founded by Julio Himede. This event was expecting 250,000 visitors over the week, so clearly a very popular event. LC owner Ges Smith and project manager Tim Rees visited the installation for the press day and looked at all the installations. Ges Smith said “all the installations looked fantastic, United by Music definitely stood out and could be seen from the other end of the docks”.
